Jayawijaya Food Agency Staff Attacked in Papua, 3 Dead

Three employees of the Jayawijaya Regency Food Agency were killed in an attack by unidentified individuals in Kampung Muliama, Jayawijaya, Papua Pegunungan, on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 3:47 PM Western Indonesian Time. According to initial reports, the group of 8 employees from the Regency Agriculture Office were distributing rice aid to local residents when they were ambushed and shot by individuals suspected to be part of an armed criminal group (KKB). Kombes Yusuf Sutejo, head of the Public Relations Task Force for Operation Damai Cartenz, confirmed the incident and the number of casualties. He stated that the chronology of the event is still under investigation and they cannot yet confirm if the perpetrators were KKB. Following the attack, the Operation Damai Cartenz Task Force focused on evacuating the victims. Yusuf confirmed that all victims had been transported to the nearest public hospital. The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the Papua region, where separatist movements have led to intermittent clashes. The authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full details and identify the perpetrators.
