One Suspect Rearrested After Escaping Kampot Provincial Court

One of two suspects who escaped from Kampot Provincial Court on September 17, 2026, has been rearrested by specialized authorities. Authorities are continuing to search for the whereabouts of the remaining suspect. The incident pertains to the escape of two suspects from the premises of Kampot Provincial Court. At the time, both were being transferred to the prosecutor's office for legal proceedings. The escape occurred around 10:00 AM, when the suspects scaled the court's wall to flee. The rearrested suspect is Van Vuthy, male, 31 years old, who was being investigated for attempted theft. Leng Kaev, male, 27 years old, is being investigated for theft. The suspects escaped from outside the Kampot Provincial Court by requesting to use the restroom and then seizing the opportunity to flee. In response to this incident, the Kampot Provincial Police Headquarters launched an urgent investigation, guided and coordinated by the prosecutor's office. The rearrested suspect, Van Vuthy, has been transferred to the Provincial Police Headquarters for further legal procedures. The Kampot Provincial Police Commissioner has appealed to the public and the media for cooperation in providing information to ensure that legal punishment is carried out according to the law.
