Cambodian Parliamentary Delegation Visits Vietnam, Affirms Regional Stability - Hopes for Peaceful Resolution to Thai Border Issues

During an official goodwill visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from July 27 to 29, 2026, a high-level delegation from the Cambodian National Assembly engaged in discussions on regional affairs. Notably, Vietnam expressed its hopes for a peaceful resolution to the long-standing border issues between Cambodia and Thailand. In meetings with Vietnamese leaders, the Cambodian parliamentary delegation reiterated Cambodia's firm adherence to a foreign policy that prioritizes the peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with international law. They also unequivocally stated their opposition to the use of force to alter international borderlines. In response, the Vietnamese side affirmed its keen attention to and continued contribution to maintaining regional stability and security. Vietnam expressed its hope that Cambodia and Thailand could find a peaceful solution to their border issues. Vietnam added that as a good neighbor and a member of the ASEAN family, it does not wish to see conflicts among ASEAN members or any issues that threaten regional peace, stability, and development. The visit reflects Cambodia's foreign policy approach, which seeks to enhance effectiveness and flexibility by aligning governmental, party, and parliamentary diplomacy in response to rapid geopolitical and economic shifts.
