Minister of Information Net Pheaktra has encouraged the Women's Media Center (WMC) to further expand its outreach through social media and digital platforms. This is to broaden its reach nationwide, especially to youth and local communities, in conjunction with radio broadcasts, aligning with current media consumption trends. During a working meeting with Ms. Saota Chan Kriskna, Executive Director of WMC, at the Ministry of Information on August 6, 2026, Minister Pheaktra discussed the potential for expanding the scope of information dissemination. This aims to ensure that citizens in rural and remote areas can access accurate, timely, and reliable information, while also enhancing public understanding of social development and government policies. Minister Pheaktra highly commended the role and efforts of WMC in contributing to the public through the production and dissemination of quality information and educational programs, particularly in the fields of health, education, women, and children. He recommended that WMC continue to strengthen the quality of its news content and dissemination programs by adhering to journalistic professionalism, ethics, truthfulness, and responsibility, while also increasing the production of engaging and easily understandable content that responds to the needs of citizens in the digital age. The Ministry of Information consistently supports and encourages information institutions that practice responsible professionalism and contribute to disseminating truthful information, thereby strengthening the quality information environment, promoting public awareness, and contributing to the development of Cambodian society, Minister Pheaktra stated. Ms. Chan Kriskna reported the results of a radio listener survey in several provinces and cities, especially in rural and remote areas, to study citizens' information needs and habits for more effective program development. She stated that WMC aims to expand the dissemination of health education programs, factual information, promotion of gender equality, and the protection of women's and children's rights, particularly to those with limited access to digital technology. Ms. Chan Kriskna also affirmed that WMC, as a local media institution, has been fulfilling its mission for 30 years, utilizing both traditional and digital media. She reiterated the commitment to professional, ethical, and responsible production and dissemination of information to contribute to raising public awareness and supporting Cambodia's development in line with government policies.
