Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed China's continued support for Cambodia's socio-economic development. Specifically, he indicated a policy to accelerate the promotion of cooperation frameworks such as the "Industrial-Technological Corridor" and the "Fishery-Rice Corridor" to ensure Cambodia's sustainable development. This statement was made during a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Shanghai, China, on July 17, 2026. President Xi highly praised the strong "iron friendship" between China and Cambodia and reiterated China's support for Cambodia's socio-economic development. During the meeting, Prime Minister Hun Manet congratulated the Chinese government on the success of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and expressed gratitude for the continued support from the Chinese government and people. He stated that this support has contributed to Cambodia's socio-economic development, infrastructure improvement, and enhancement of people's livelihoods. Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed Cambodia's unwavering support for the "One China" principle, respecting issues concerning Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Xinjiang as China's internal affairs. He also assessed the steady development of bilateral relations as a comprehensive strategic partnership and "iron friends," noting that both countries are cooperating to build a "China-Cambodia Community of Shared Future for All Seasons in the New Era." The two leaders exchanged views on future plans and directions to further deepen cooperation in key areas, including politics and diplomacy, economy and trade, infrastructure connectivity, electricity, artificial intelligence and digital economy, agriculture, national defense, and security.
