Central Vietnam on Alert for Heavy Rains as Tropical Depression Approaches

Vietnam's central coastal regions are heightening their alert for heavy rainfall as a tropical depression approaches. As of 4 AM on September 13, the center of the tropical depression was located at approximately 17.0 degrees North latitude and 108.8 degrees East longitude, over the waters from Quang Tri to Da Nang city. This position is about 120km northeast of Da Nang city and 140km northeast of Hue city. The tropical depression, which formed over the East Sea, is expected to bring gusts up to level 8. Some forecasts suggest it could further intensify into a typhoon, reaching level 10 winds. Coastal localities, including Quang Tri province, are implementing precautionary measures in response to this weather event. Concerns are focused on potential damage to infrastructure from heavy rain and strong winds, impacts on agricultural production, and ensuring the safety of residents. Vietnam's geographical location makes it susceptible to tropical depressions and typhoons throughout the year, with preparedness for weather-related disasters being particularly crucial from autumn to winter.
