Cambodia Encourages CCECC to Expand Investment, Exploring Deeper Economic Ties with China
Cambodia's Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has encouraged China's CCECC to explore further investment expansion opportunities in the Kingdom. The CDC specifically urged the company to invest in high-value sectors that can boost economic growth and create jobs. This move signals Cambodia's intent to deepen economic ties with China and accelerate infrastructure development.
The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has encouraged China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) to further expand its investment opportunities within the Kingdom. During a working visit to Beijing on the afternoon of Monday, June 29, 2026, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the CDC, accompanied by H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, received a delegation from CCECC's senior management, led by its President, Mr. Wang Xiangdong. Mr. Wang Xiangdong expressed his profound respect and gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for the opportunity to meet and discuss business. He provided a brief overview of CCECC's background and specialized capabilities, highlighting its status as a large-scale Chinese state-owned enterprise with extensive expertise in developing major infrastructure projects worldwide, including bridges, roads, railways, airports, and industrial parks. Regarding investment in Cambodia, Mr. Wang Xiangdong reported on the progress of development projects related to the modernization of the transportation system, in which the company is actively collaborating with the Cambodian side and is expected to complete its feasibility study in the near future. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol welcomed and highly valued CCECC's commitment to contributing to Cambodia's physical infrastructure development. He emphasized that the Cambodian side is awaiting the results of the company's feasibility study, which will be submitted soon, for evaluation before proceeding to the next steps.
