Religious Harmony: President meets with Catholic Bishops' delegation

President U Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation led by Cardinal Charles Bo, President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Myanmar, at the Presidential Office in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday. During the meeting, Cardinal Charles Bo expressed appreciation for the President’s efforts in carrying out the state duty with dedication despite facing difficulties and challenges. He said that the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Myanmar has been established and that Catholic communities in Myanmar have been carrying out religious activities while enjoying the freedom to practice their faith. He also thanked the President for granting permission to build a Catholic church on a two-acre plot of land in Nay Pyi Taw Dekkhinathiri Township. The President said that throughout the country’s history, land had been granted for different religions to carry out their religious activities, and explained the government's efforts to promote peace and prosperity through the values of religion. He stressed that the country is currently moving towards a multiparty democratic system in a disciplined and systematic manner, emphasizing the need to have religious and political harmony. Regarding peace, the President pledged to continue working to achieve peace in the country through various approaches. He expressed his belief to resolve the obstacles through democratic means, stating that political issues and demands must be addressed through political means and cannot be achieved through armed violence. He said that all religions can provide positive teachings and values, and urged religious leaders to contribute to national peace by promoting civilized thoughts and attitudes among the people to help bring peace, harmony, and prosperity in the society.
