Vietnamese Students in Laos Honor War Martyrs in Quang Tri

Students from the Nguyen Du Lao–Vietnamese Bilingual School in Vientiane, Laos, participated in a ceremony to honor war martyrs within Laos, as part of activities contributing to strengthening the special ties between Vietnam and Laos. The school plays a crucial role in Vietnamese-language education, cultural preservation, and nurturing a knowledgeable and skilled young generation. During the event, students observed a minute of silence to commemorate heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national independence, freedom, and the people's happiness, particularly those resting at the Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery. This tribute acknowledges the ongoing efforts by teams from Vietnam's Quang Tri province to locate and recover the remains of martyrs in Laos. Recovery operations in Laos have shown positive results during the 2025–2026 dry season, with Quang Tri's forces having found and collected 27 sets of martyrs’ remains to date, including 15 by Team 589 and 12 by Team 584. In Vietnam, honoring war martyrs is a significant national ritual and a collective endeavor to remember peace and sacrifice. This activity in Laos demonstrates Vietnam's commitment to honoring the victims of past wars and building a peaceful future, while also serving as an opportunity to reaffirm historical bonds with neighboring Laos. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the inheritance of national historical memory and the promotion of national unity are prioritized as foundations for social stability and development. War martyr commemoration plays a vital role in fostering patriotism and enhancing a sense of community among citizens, contributing to these national objectives.
