Phnom Penh Bars Raided for Suspected Prostitution, 37 Detained

Two bars in the heart of Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital, have been raided by authorities on suspicion of offering sexual services and employing minors. A total of 37 individuals, both men and women, were detained during the operation. The crackdown was led by the police department responsible for combating human trafficking and protecting minors. The raid took place in the early hours of September 8th in the Market Kandal 1 commune of Don Penh district, targeting two bars named "Femme Dam" and "Red Roman." These establishments were located close to each other and had been observed with frequent foreign clientele from late night until early morning. Residents in the vicinity had also reported seeing young women gathering outside the venues, raising suspicions that activities beyond normal beverage service might be taking place. Authorities moved to seal off all exits and entrances of both locations before conducting the search to prevent any suspects from escaping or destroying evidence.
