Taiwanese Medical Team and UCB Bank Provide Aid and Medical Treatment to Rural Cambodian Residents

A team of 15 volunteer medical personnel from Taiwan's Mackay Hospital, along with UCB Bank, conducted a humanitarian mission on July 20, 2026, distributing aid and providing medical examinations to 100 impoverished families in Chan Sar village, Sotnikom District, Siem Reap Province. The initiative was organized in cooperation with the Rotary Angkor Club and coordinated by Dr. Kros Sarath, advisor to the Ministry of Health and Director of the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Health. During a gathering before the distribution and medical checks, Mr. Kim Vannak, Governor of the Sotnikom District Administration, expressed gratitude to the medical team from Mackay Hospital, UCB Bank, and the Rotary Angkor Club for their assistance to the local residents. He noted that this was the fourth time the volunteer medical team and the bank had provided free medical treatment and essential supplies to the needy in the district. Dr. Kros Sarath warmly welcomed the charitable spirit of Mackay Hospital, UCB Bank, and the Rotary Angkor Club, acknowledging their consistent contributions to alleviating the hardships faced by the Cambodian people, both through food aid and by addressing the health concerns of rural populations. He highlighted the strong focus on the healthcare sector and the enhancement of public health under the "Pentagonal Strategy Phase 1" of the 7th Legislature government, led by Prime Minister Hun Manet. The government prioritizes modernizing and strengthening the healthcare system as a crucial element in developing human capital, which is the foremost of the five key priorities: people, roads, water, electricity, and technology. The aid distributed included rice, blankets, clothing, condiments, and some cash. The medical team focused on diagnosing and treating general illnesses, dental issues, heart conditions, joint problems, and pediatric diseases, examining a total of 300 residents during the event.
