P14 Million Worth of Smuggled Cigarettes Seized in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Smuggled cigarettes valued at P14 million were seized in a coastal village in this city yesterday morning. The contraband was found in a motorized boat that was intercepted in Barangay Campo Islam by members of the 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company, according to 2ZCMFC chief Lt. Col. Christopher Navida. The crewmembers of the boat fled after sensing the arrival of the police. The boat was carrying 94 master cases and 34 reams of untaxed cigarettes. Navida said the boat was towed toward the headquarters of the 2ZCMFC. The contraband was turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition. Source: Philstar Nation
