Vietnam Urges Enhanced International Cooperation in Counter-Terrorism

Vietnam has reiterated its consistent stance of condemning terrorism in all its forms, manifestations, and motivations. Nguyen Hai Luu, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, called on UN member states to strengthen cooperation in investigating, prosecuting, and bringing to trial individuals and organizations responsible for planning, carrying out, or financing terrorist acts, including those linked to recent terrorist incidents in Vietnam. Ambassador Luu emphasized that terrorism poses a grave threat to the international community as a whole and that cross-border collaboration is essential for its eradication. He particularly highlighted the importance of enhancing financial monitoring to prevent funds from flowing into terrorist organizations and promoting information sharing. Vietnam is also proactively working to prevent money laundering and terrorism financing through cryptocurrency transactions, advancing the improvement of domestic laws and cooperation with international organizations. Furthermore, Vietnam is collaborating with China to enhance counter-terrorism capabilities, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening regional security. Under Vietnam's one-party system, maintaining national stability and social order is a top priority, and terrorism is often viewed as a challenge to the regime. Consequently, the government considers counter-terrorism a crucial pillar of national security and seeks to prevent terrorist threats within the country while fulfilling its role as a responsible member of the international community by deepening cooperation with other nations.
