Bulacan Village Chief Implicated in Teacher's Slaying After Dying Declaration
A village chief in Sta. Maria, Bulacan, has surrendered to police after the dying declaration of his former barangay secretary, also a part-time teacher, implicated him in the fatal shooting. The victim identified the chief as the mastermind behind the attack.
STA. MARIA, Bulacan — A barangay chair accused of masterminding the killing of his former barangay secretary, who was also a part-time teacher, surrendered to police on Aug. 1, two days after the fatal shooting, authorities said. Sta. Maria police chief Col. Mark Louie Sigua said the village chair voluntarily surrendered at the municipal police station. The victim, in his dying declaration, pointed to the barangay chair as the mastermind behind the attack, Sigua said. The village chief was facing murder charges and was being sought by the police. He surrendered through his lawyer. Police are preparing to file murder charges against the village chief.
