Vietnam Urges Stronger ASEAN-India Maritime Cooperation for Regional Stability

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang called for continued adherence to ASEAN principles and stronger dialogue and cooperation to address common challenges. Speaking ahead of Indian Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar's visit to Manila for the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings, Philippine Ambassador to India Josel F. Ignacio praised India for its role in advancing ASEAN's goals and its consistent support for the bloc's unity and centrality in the regional architecture. Thai Ambassador to Mexico Rooge Thammongkol, rotating Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) for July-December, said ASEAN has grown into one of the world’s most successful regional organisations and plays a central role in promoting peace, stability and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. Vietnam stands ready to share expertise in crop varieties, cultivation techniques, irrigation, agricultural mechanisation, post-harvest preservation and the development of agricultural value chains. Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang said the Friendship Order symbolises the Vietnamese State's recognition of Jankowitsch's more than six decades of unwavering dedication to fostering bilateral relations. The award, he added, also reflects the profound gratitude and appreciation of the Vietnamese people for his work. On behalf of the Vietnamese delegation, Minh said he was confident that the activities will further strengthen mutual understanding and trust between the two militaries and navies, while contributing to the implementation of the common perceptions reached by the two countries' senior leaders on advancing more substantive defence and security cooperation. During a working visit to the US in mid-July, Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung, accompanied by the Vietnamese Ambassador to the US and senior officials from several ministries, met with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick on major directions for bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, on behalf of the Politburo, presided over the opening session.
