Philippines Seeks Consultants for Airport Development Projects

The Department of Transportation (DoTr) has initiated the process of selecting consultants for the development of three key airport projects across the Philippines, signaling a commitment to modernizing the nation's transportation infrastructure and stimulating regional economic growth. In a request for expression of interest, the agency announced its intention to invite consultants to conduct a feasibility study, develop a master plan, assess environmental impact, and craft a resettlement action plan for the new Surigao Airport Development Project. The budget allocated for this consultancy service is P87.64 million. In separate notices, the DoTr is also seeking consultancy services for the Cagayancillo Airport Development Project and the Taytay Airport Development Project. These services will encompass feasibility assessments, environmental impact evaluations, and the formulation of master plans. The department has earmarked P70.52 million for these consultancy engagements. Furthermore, the Transportation department has allocated another P70.52 million to engage consultants for the development of a strategic air transport development plan and for conducting environmental and social assessments related to airport development in Cebu. All consultancy contracts are expected to be completed within 300 calendar days, or approximately 10 months, from the issuance of the notice to proceed. These infrastructure initiatives are crucial for enhancing domestic connectivity, particularly in an archipelagic nation like the Philippines, and are anticipated to bolster tourism and investment in the respective regions.
