Cambodia Pushes for Enhanced Mine Victim Support with International NGO
Cambodia's Deputy Minister Ly Thuch urged the Kampong Cham Provincial Rehabilitation Center to provide more effective rescue and rehabilitation services for mine victims, in collaboration with the German international NGO Handicap International.
Deputy Minister Ly Thuch, First Vice President of the Mine Authority, has urged the Kampong Cham Provincial Rehabilitation Center to provide more effective rescue and rehabilitation services for mine victims. This initiative aims to strengthen the effectiveness of services for those affected by landmines and explosive remnants of war. On July 2, 2026, Deputy Minister Ly Thuch visited the Kampong Provincial Rehabilitation Center to study the progress of its work and the services it provides. The center receives technical and financial support from the Royal Government of Cambodia and the international NGO Handicap International (Humanity & Inclusion - HI). The visit was attended by Ms. But Rotana, Executive Director of the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC), Mr. Rajib Dakua, Country Director of Humanity & Inclusion (HI), and representatives from the Disability Fund. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation, assess work progress, explore opportunities to address challenges, and promote more effective and comprehensive rescue and rehabilitation services for victims of mines and explosive remnants of war. Deputy Minister Ly Thuch expressed his gratitude for the professional and highly responsible efforts of the center's leadership and staff in providing rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities and victims of explosive ordnance. He also thanked HI for its close collaboration with the Royal Government of Cambodia in supporting the mine action sector and physical rehabilitation, as well as for its active role in providing psychosocial support to persons with disabilities and victims of explosive ordnance in Kampong Cham and surrounding provinces. Deputy Minister Ly Thuch affirmed that the Royal Government of Cambodia continues to focus on improving the well-being and social inclusion of persons with disabilities, in line with the government's vision and policies to ensure no one is left behind.
