Cambodian Defense Minister Thanks Malaysian Counterpart for Border Dispute Resolution Efforts
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, General Tea Seiha, met with Malaysian Minister of Defence, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin. Seiha expressed gratitude for Malaysia's mediation efforts in resolving the Cambodia-Thailand border issue and for leading ASEAN observer missions, recognizing their contribution to regional peace and ASEAN centrality.
Phnom Penh, August 7, 2026 – General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, welcomed Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, Malaysia's Minister of Defence, for a courtesy call and working discussion at the Ministry of National Defense. General Seiha expressed his delight in hosting his Malaysian counterpart, noting that this marked the first official visit by the Malaysian Minister of Defence following several previous discussions held at various international forums. "Today, I am immensely pleased to have the opportunity to welcome our Malaysian friend to the Ministry of National Defense of the Kingdom of Cambodia," he stated. The Cambodian Minister of National Defense extended his gratitude and admiration for the efforts of the Malaysian leadership in mediating and seeking peaceful and lawful resolutions to the Cambodia-Thailand border issue. He also acknowledged their role in leading ASEAN observer missions to contribute to the pursuit of peace for the Cambodian people. General Seiha emphasized that these endeavors not only contribute to peace within Cambodia but also strengthen ASEAN's solidarity and centrality in seeking peace for the region and the world.
