East Pattaya Faces Worsening Floods, Railway Road Closed

PATTAYA, Thailand – With more heavy rain forecast through the weekend, East Pattaya is also seeing rapidly rising water, prompting authorities to restrict traffic along the railway road near the junction behind Wat Tham Samakkhi. At around 1 p.m. on September 23, Pattaya City’s public order officers and Nongprue Police were deployed to the area to manage traffic and prevent vehicles from entering the flooded section. Tow trucks were also on hand to assist vehicles that became stranded in the rising water. The road was closed to traffic because of accumulated water, with officials remaining on site to assist motorists and monitor conditions. The flooding adds to growing disruption across Pattaya and surrounding areas following torrential rain earlier in the day. With the Meteorological Department forecasting heavy to very heavy rain in the eastern region through September 27, officials remain on alert for further flooding, particularly in low-lying areas.
