A letter to his wife dated May 30, 1975, expressed his hopes for post-war stability and family reunion. Tragically, less than six months later, on November 14, 1975, he died in an accident at an explosives warehouse, along with 11 colleagues. His daughter, Dang Thu Thuy, experienced profound tragedy when she traveled to Saigon to reunite with her father, only to learn of his death. She and her mother later returned to Bac Giang province, continuing to work in honor of her father's legacy.
