Prabowo Reveals Reading Paulo Coelho's 'Warrior of the Light' During His Nadir

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has revealed that he found solace in "Warrior of the Light" by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho during the lowest point of his career. The book, he stated, served as a significant personal guide and inspiration during a challenging period. During the program "Presiden Prabowo Menjawab" (President Prabowo Answers), Prabowo highlighted the book as one of his favorites. He described it as a thin, accessible volume written by the Brazilian novelist. Prabowo expressed deep admiration for the book, noting its strong connection to his own life. He first received the book from his sister, Maryani Djojohadikusumo, in the early 2000s. "I was, you could say, at my nadir, having been ousted in '98/'99, accused of all sorts of things, coups, kidnappings, you name it, I was at my nadir," Prabowo recounted. "After that, I read it. As I read, tears flowed, as if he was speaking to me," he shared, explaining how the author's words resonated with his circumstances at the time.
