Monks and Citizens Donate Food and Supplies to Border Guards, Demonstrating National Unity

In Oddar Meanchey province, northwestern Cambodia, monks from Siem Reap have donated food and essential supplies to soldiers stationed at the border. This initiative is seen as a demonstration of national solidarity and support for the troops defending the country's territorial integrity. On September 7, 2026, Venerable Hem Kim San, abbot of Prasat Kok Chork Pagoda, and Venerable Rit Thuy Sithym, chief monk at Wat Pout Banteay Chey, along with other monks and philanthropists, visited the border areas in Trapaing Prasat and Anlong Veng districts. They presented food items, daily necessities, and some cash to the frontline soldiers. Venerable Hem Kim San stated, "The participation of monks and philanthropists in organizing and delivering food to our heroic soldiers performing their duty to protect the territorial integrity is a valuable testament to the spirit of solidarity, sharing, and compassion within Cambodian society. This activity also shows that all segments of society, including the Buddhist clergy, are united in supporting our armed forces." He further elaborated, "The food and essential supplies are not just material aid but also a message of care, respect, and encouragement from the monks and Buddhist laypeople who are participating. Sharing and helping each other in difficult times aligns with the values of compassion and generosity in Buddhism. This visit aims to boost the morale of the soldiers, making them feel they are not alone and that the monks and citizens are behind them, offering their support."
