AEV First-Half Earnings Surge 63% to P13.6 Billion

(AEV) in the Philippines reported a 63% year-on-year surge in first-half net earnings to P13.6 billion, driven by strong performance in its energy, banking, food, and infrastructure businesses. This growth helped offset economic challenges and supports the conglomerate's long-term expansion.
MANILA, Philippines — Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. (AEV) posted a sharp increase in first-half earnings as its energy, banking, food and infrastructure businesses delivered strong results, helping offset broader economic challenges while supporting the conglomerate’s long-term expansion plans. The conglomerate said on Thursday that its consolidated net income climbed 63 percent to P13.6 billion in the first six months of 2026 compared to the same period last year. Aboitiz, president and CEO of Aboitiz Group. “Every investment we make today is intended to strengthen our businesses, satisfy our customers and support our nation’s continued growth,” Aboitiz added. Second-quarter consolidated net income also jumped 40 percent year-on-year to P7.3 billion. Excluding non-recurring items, AEV’s core net income reached P13.7 billion, reflecting what it described as sustained operational strength across its strategic business units. The biggest earnings contributor remained AboitizPower, which generated P10 billion in net income for AEV during the period. Banking also remained a major growth driver. UnionBank contributed P3.4 billion to AEV after posting P6.9 billion in first-half net income. Meanwhile, AEV’s food and beverage businesses, led by Aboitiz Foods and Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines, contributed P4 billion in net income. The conglomerate also continued expanding its infrastructure business. Its airport portfolio, which now includes Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Laguindingan International Airport and Bohol-Panglao International Airport, recorded higher passenger activity during the first half. In real estate, AEV said it remained focused on selling ready-for-occupancy homes while sustaining leasing momentum across Aboitiz Economic Estates as more locators expanded operations in its industrial parks. As of end-June, AEV had P1 trillion in consolidated assets, P86.6 billion in cash and cash equivalents, and a net debt-to-equity ratio of 0.9 times, giving the group flexibility to pursue further investments.
