Cambodia Deports 11 Thai Nationals, Welcomes 32 Returning Cambodians

Cambodian immigration authorities on September 18, 2026, deported 11 Thai nationals to Thailand, in accordance with Cambodian immigration law. According to Brigadier General E. Chamroeun, Chief of the Poipet International Border Gate Police Station, the 11 Thai nationals (5 females) had been found to be residing illegally in Cambodia and had completed their legal penalties. Meanwhile, the 32 Cambodian citizens (7 females and 3 children) repatriated by Thai authorities were received with care by Brigadier General Chamroeun's forces at the Poipet International Checkpoint, where they were provided with necessary food and snacks. Following instructions from the Director-General of the First Gate Department, the Cambodian returnees underwent a background check and record-keeping at the station. They were subsequently handed over to officials at the Poipet Reception Center for further processing. This operation highlights the management of cross-border movements and cooperation between the two nations, with Cambodia maintaining a firm stance on illegal immigration while offering humanitarian support to its returning citizens.
