Cambodia Strengthens Gender Equality in Climate Action with Regional Workshop in Mondulkiri

The Ministry of Environment, with technical support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), UN Women, and Oxfam, inaugurated the second regional workshop on July 23, 2026, in Mondulkiri province, to strengthen gender equality in climate action in Cambodia. The workshop introduced practical measures and indicators under the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) and the Gender Strategic Plan IV (2026–2030). These initiatives aim to ensure that climate policies and programs respond to the needs of both women and men, while recognizing women as key leaders in building resilient communities. The event was inaugurated by H.E. Ngin Lina, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment, alongside Ms. Rebekah Bell, FAO Representative in Cambodia, and Mr. Keo Savoeun, Deputy Governor of Mondulkiri Province. The workshop brought together representatives from provincial departments of environment, agriculture, and women's affairs, along with development partners, to reinforce gender-responsive approaches in climate change adaptation, environmental governance, and local development planning. By promoting cooperation across sectors and government levels, the workshop supports Cambodia's efforts to build an inclusive and climate-resilient future where both women and men can contribute to and benefit from sustainable development.
