MANILA, Philippines — Human trafficking charges are being considered against former Negros Oriental Rep. Jacinto “Jing” Paras over an alleged “honey trap” scheme that targeted Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said on Wednesday. In an interview with reporters in Quezon City, Remulla said other officials were also targeted, including him and his brother. The alleged scheme involved luring officials into compromising situations for the purpose of blackmail or extortion. Remulla did not provide further details on the nature of the alleged scheme or the evidence against Paras. Paras could not be immediately reached for comment.
