As part of the management of marine coastal resources, initiatives are being undertaken including the drafting of a water pollution law, the use of VMS systems to reduce illegal fishing, the designation of closed fishing seasons and areas, the establishment of the Myanmar Coast Guard, and the promotion of research and education, according to Vice President U Nyo Soe. Vice President U Nyo Soe, who also chairs the Central Committee for the Management of Marine Coastal Resources at the national level, made these remarks at the committee's first meeting held on July 17. He also stated that progress has been made in managing plastics, waste, and expanding and conserving mangrove forests in coastal areas. Vice President U Nyo Soe stated that marine coastal resources are vital for food security, economic development, and sustainable development, and efforts are being made with the aim of ensuring their long-term conservation and utilization for future generations.
