The International Conference on Engineering Education Accreditation-ICEEA was held at Myanmar Engineering Council (MEC) in Lanmadaw Township, Yangon on Friday. It was jointly organized by the MEC and the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) Committee on Education in Engineering (CEIE). Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development, in his capacity as the Patron of MEC, Dr. Charlie Than attended the event which is held under the theme: “AI and Digital Transformation in Engineering: Driving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. The Union Minister said the annual event serves as a platform for discussions, knowledge exchanging and cooperation on engineering education, quality assurance and accreditation in addressing global challenges. He added that the event can also provide opportunities to review progress, share innovative ideas and practices, and reaffirm the future vision of the engineering profession. He outlined that the EEAC under MEC is carrying out the quality assurance and accreditation process for temporary membership of Washington Accord in 2028. He urged all to strive for promoting engineering education systems aligned with the principles of engineering education guidelines and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Union Minister added that the conference will create an environment that encourages considerate discussions, mutual learning, and strategic collaboration among education officers, accreditation bodies, industry leaders, policymakers, and professional organizations. In an effort for strengthening global ties through engineering education, the Union Minister urged all the attendees to discuss openly and exchange their views for better engineering profession and engineering education. Later, the Chairman of WFEO gave a speech and discussions were carried out. The conference is scheduled to be held from 24th to 25th July.
