A large-scale drug bust operation was conducted by the military police on the Mekong River in Stung Treng Province, resulting in the seizure of over 37 kilograms of methamphetamine. The operation took place on the night of June 30th, at approximately 9:20 PM, in the Mekong River waters off Koh Heib island, Koh Heib village, O'Svay Sen Chey commune, Banteay Ampil district, Stung Treng Province. Led by Brigadier General Seng Sopheap, Commander of the Stung Treng Provincial Gendarmerie Headquarters No. 747, and in cooperation with the Stung Treng Provincial Department of Environment, the operation targeted a significant drug trafficking case on the Mekong River. The authorities seized over 37 kilograms of illegal drugs. During the operation, specialized forces discovered 37 packages of methamphetamine, identified as 'ice' (crystal methamphetamine), weighing a total of 37,711.7 grams (including packaging). However, the suspects managed to evade capture and fled the scene before the authorities could apprehend them. The specialized forces of the Anti-Drug Office are currently building a case file to be sent to the prosecutor's office at the Stung Treng Provincial Court for further legal proceedings.
