Angkor Marathon to Cause Temporary Traffic Restrictions in Angkor Resort

The APSARA National Authority has announced temporary traffic restrictions at several locations within the Angkor resort area for the upcoming 11th Angkor Empire Marathon, scheduled to take place on August 2, 2026. Approximately 6,000 national and international athletes are expected to participate in the event. To ensure the smooth running of the marathon, the APSARA National Authority will implement traffic closures as follows: * Access for tourists to view the sunrise via the west entrance of Angkor Wat will be closed from 4:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Tourists can still view the sunrise as usual from the east entrance. * Traffic will be closed on the road from the Chumpak Kampkob intersection leading to the front of Angkor Wat, passing through the Tonle Om gate, up to the Dai Chhngannak gate, from 4:00 AM to 11:00 AM. * Other sections of the marathon route will also experience traffic closures when national and international athletes pass through, as indicated on the attached map. This measure aims to facilitate the safe execution of the international sporting event while preserving the serenity and historical integrity of the UNESCO World Heritage site. Information regarding alternative routes and timings is expected to be provided to assist tourists.
