Vietnam Makes ASIAD History with Multiple Medal Wins

Vietnam claimed another bronze medal at ASIAD 2026 on September 24 as Tran Thi Tu Uyen and Pham Thi Bich Ngoc finished third in the women's double sculls (W2x). Competing at the Nagaragawa International Rowing Course in Japan, the Vietnamese crew clocked 6:43, finishing just two seconds behind Uzbekistan. The medal is Vietnam's first silver at the Games, bringing the country's tally to one gold, one silver and eight bronze medals. Vietnam's wushu and swimming squads delivered again at ASIAD 2026 on September 23, with Duong Thuy Vi taking bronze in the combined jianshu-qiangshu event while swimmer Vo Thi My Tien punched her ticket to the women's 400m individual medley final. The bronze medal affirms Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly’s strong finish in the women’s 68kg category. Beyond sporting achievements, Vietnam is actively promoting cultural exchange. On September 23, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu met with around 30 Vietnamese content creators and key opinion leaders (KOLs) in Japan, stating their ability to deliver information quickly and reach large audiences enables them to make practical contributions to strengthening bilateral ties and building a united Vietnamese community in Japan. Cultural exchanges such as “Ode to Peace” contributed to promoting the role of culture, enhancing understanding among nations, and advancing peace and sustainable development.
