Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark Completes Re-evaluation Program

The Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark in Ha Giang province, northern Vietnam, has completed its re-evaluation program by an expert team from the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network from July 25 to 27. This re-evaluation is conducted periodically to ensure the geopark's continued development and adherence to international standards. Dong Van Karst Plateau was recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2010 due to its unique geological features, rich cultural heritage, and the efforts of the local community. The re-evaluation process assesses whether the geopark's activities in management, conservation, education, and sustainable tourism align with UNESCO's criteria. The completion of this re-evaluation marks a significant milestone for Dong Van Karst Plateau in maintaining its international recognition and achieving further development. The Vietnamese government prioritizes the protection and utilization of such world-class natural and cultural heritage sites to boost regional economies.
