Container Truck Collides with Prius in Phnom Penh, Causing Traffic Chaos

Around 5:30 AM on September 23, 2026, a serious traffic accident occurred in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, near the traffic light in front of Chomrovon High School along National Road 4. A green FUSO container truck (license plate: Kampong Speu 3A-5551, trailer plate: Kampong Speu 4A-0258), traveling at high speed from west to east, rear-ended a white Prius (license plate: Phnom Penh 2BN-9283) that was proceeding straight. The impact pushed the Prius forward, causing it to collide with a traffic light pole. The traffic light was damaged, and its parts scattered on the road. The Prius, still carrying momentum, then crashed into the road divider, destroying it and dislodging all four of its tires, which flew onto the road. This incident resulted in significant traffic congestion on one side of the road, stretching from the Chomrovon overpass to the accident scene. Fortunately, no human injuries were reported as a result of this accident. The Prius sustained severe damage to its front, while the container truck had damage to its front left side. Following the accident, a portion of the road divider that had been dislodged onto the road caused traffic to halt on one lane, from the Chomrovon overpass to the accident site. A police officer who arrived at the scene managed traffic and handed over both vehicles to the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Traffic Office.
