Junta troops fire nearly 90 times from warships in Gwa Township, 6 locals including a child injured

The Arakan Army (AA) announced on July 8 that six local residents, including a five-year-old child, were injured when the junta troops fired from warships into civilian residential areas along the coast of Gwa Township in southern Rakhine State. It is reported that approximately 87 rounds were fired with heavy weapons from four warships. According to the announcement, from around 7:04 AM to 12:45 PM on July 8, warships circled back and forth along the Gwa coast and the Bomi coast in Ayeyarwady Region, firing relentlessly, as stated in the release. The AA released that Daw Ma Htar, 45, Daw Than May, 74, Ma Yat Na Htun, 5, U Nyo Htun, 48, Ma Thin Thiri Htun, 17, and Daw Mi Wai, 50, from Ward 3 of Kyauktawli town in Gwa Township, were injured in the shelling. The release stated that the junta is continuously bombing civilian residential areas, which are not military targets, in Gwa Township with jet fighters from the air and firing heavy weapons from warships at sea, as they are continuously losing bases in battles along the border of Rakhine and Ayeyarwady regions. Similarly, it is reported that the junta troops flew into Gwa Township twice with two jet fighter jets around 10 PM and 11:30 PM on July 7, dropping bombs. The AA has also released accompanying photographs documenting the damage to civilian homes and injuries to civilians caused by the heavy weapons fired from the junta troops' warships.
