Former dictator Ne Win's grandsons buy 7 Range Rover Sport luxury cars with over 5 billion kyats in bank loans, fail to repay, continue driving unlicensed cars, protected by generals

Yangon, July 4 Kyaw Ne Win and Zwel Ne Win, grandsons of former dictator U Ne Win, have purchased and used seven Range Rover Sport luxury cars through AYA Bank's car purchase loan system. However, they have not repaid the principal and interest exceeding 5 billion kyats for the car purchases to date, and are reportedly continuing to drive the cars without renewing their licenses, according to investigations. According to information obtained, the Range Rover Sport luxury cars, including 7H-9922 and 9I-9922, currently driven by Zwel Ne Win and Kyaw Ne Win, were purchased from Land Rover–Capital Group through AYA Bank's loan credit system. It is understood that over 5 billion kyats in principal and interest remain to be paid for the seven cars. Regarding this loan, AYA Bank filed a lawsuit against Kyaw Ne Win, Zwel Ne Win, and Omni Focus Company. Omni Focus lost the case in the Eastern District Court of Yangon Region. Subsequently, appeals were filed with higher courts, but these appeals were also rejected, according to information. Furthermore, it is understood that the courts rejected the revision cases numbered 301, 312, 313, 314, and 315 submitted by Omni Focus at the Union Supreme Court on June 26, 2026. As a result, AYA Bank won the case, and a court decision has been issued ordering the repayment of the debt. However, despite losing cases in successive courts and being ordered to repay the debt, Kyaw Ne Win has not repaid over 5 billion kyats for the seven luxury cars to date and continues to use the Range Rover Sport luxury cars without licenses, according to information. According to information obtained from investigations, the licenses for these seven cars have not been renewed for over seven years, and vehicles with expired licenses are reportedly being driven on public roads with their previous license plate numbers. Although vehicles with expired licenses should be subject to legal seizure and action, it is understood that Kyaw Ne Win is protected by his close relationships with military generals, including the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing. Therefore, relevant departments are reportedly hesitant to seize and take action against the unlicensed cars driven by the grandsons of dictator Ne Win. The Omni Focus group, owned by Kyaw Ne Win, grandson of former dictator Ne Win, borrowed 50 billion kyats from Ayeyarwady Bank (AYA Bank) to purchase 500 YBS (Yangon Bus Service) vehicles. It is reported that these funds have not been repaid, and despite losing the court cases, they are living brazenly without repaying the money, according to information.
