India Pledges Full Support for Cambodia's Anti-Cyber Scam Conference

Indian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung has pledged full support for Cambodia's hosting of an upcoming international conference against cyber scams, following a courtesy call with senior Cambodian official H.E. Santepundit Chhay Sinarith on Wednesday. H.E. Chhay Sinarith, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions and Chairman of the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS), received the Indian diplomat at his office on July 22 to discuss strengthening bilateral law enforcement cooperation. During the meeting, H.E. Chhay Sinarith commended the long-standing friendly relations between the two nations and highlighted the importance of information exchange, joint intelligence sharing, and capacity-building programmes for specialised officers through collaboration between the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and Cambodia's CCOS. He informed the Ambassador that Cambodia will host the "International Conference on Countering Cyber Scams" from Sept. 23 to 24 in Phnom Penh. He invited India to participate and share its expertise in addressing technology-based crimes. In response, Ambassador Bawitlung praised the Royal Government of Cambodia’s firm commitment and active measures to combat online fraud, particularly noting its attention to the safety and well-being of scam victims. He reaffirmed India’s full support for the upcoming international summit and agreed to facilitate closer operational coordination. Both sides concluded the meeting by pledging to enhance future collaboration, with a focus on real-time data sharing and technical training to curb cyber scams across the region. By K. Rithy Reak
