20 Arrested in Major Drug Bust Near Long Thanh Airport

A major drug trafficking ring operating in the vicinity of Long Thanh Airport in Dong Nai Province has been dismantled, resulting in the arrest of 20 individuals. This operation is significant as it is the first time a district-level police force in Dong Nai has successfully broken up such a large-scale drug network. After months of meticulous monitoring, the Long Thanh District Police, in collaboration with other specialized units, apprehended 20 suspects over the course of the recent five-day holiday. These individuals are implicated in large-scale illegal drug trading, organizing drug consumption, and possession within the district and surrounding areas near Long Thanh Airport. The operation saw the arrest of Nguyen Thi An, 70, and Le Thi Mai Dung, 42, during an illicit drug transaction. Authorities confiscated a white powdery substance, believed to be narcotics, from Ms. An, and a substantial sum of money from Ms. Dung. Both suspects reportedly admitted that the drugs were transported from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh for further distribution. Acting on the intelligence gathered, law enforcement officials launched a broader operation from August 28 to September 1, successfully dismantling the larger network and seizing a significant quantity of illicit items. The Dong Nai Provincial Police highlighted that this successful outcome was a testament to the close and effective coordination between various police departments. The operation is credited with playing a crucial role in curbing illegal drug activities and upholding public safety and order in the region.
