Two Cambodian Journalists Participate in International 'War Journalism' Training in Turkey

Two Cambodian journalists are participating in an international training course on 'War Journalism' held in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. This training aims to enhance their reporting capabilities in conflict zones and their personal safety techniques in areas of armed conflict. The international-level training is organized through cooperation between Turkey's state news agency, Anadolu Agency (AA), the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), and the Turkish National Police Academy. The program has attracted journalists and reporters from many countries around the world, including representatives from Cambodia. To prepare participants for unseen dangers, this training provides thorough instruction in both theory and practical application on key topics. These include: Safety and Survival: techniques for evading gunfire, self-protection from chemical weapons and mines, and survival in food-scarce regions. First Aid: methods for battlefield first aid, hemorrhage control, and urgent transport of the wounded. War Psychology: psychological management and emotional pressure during tense situations or life-threatening circumstances. Journalism Ethics: responsible and unbiased reporting, and respect for human rights during conflict. Representatives from Cambodia have expressed strong interest in the practical training, which includes simulations mirroring actual battlefield conditions. This experience not only helps them understand the value of personal safety but also enhances their confidence in accurate information gathering and verification, enabling them to serve as a bridge for conveying truthful information to the public. The participation of Cambodian journalists in this global program is a significant step towards elevating Cambodia's journalism sector to competitive standards and fostering a high level of preparedness, not only for war reporting but also for covering natural disasters and other crises. It is noted that the two Cambodian journalists selected to participate in this important training are Mr. Ya Chintakanty from the Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) and Mr. Him Karona from Cambodian National Television (TVK).
