Cambodian and ASEAN Media Delegations Visit China to Study Digital Technologies for Cultural Heritage Preservation

A delegation of media representatives from Cambodia and ASEAN countries visited the Anda Exhibition Technology Company and the Institute of Digital Technology in Hefei City, Anhui Province, China, to conduct an on-site study on the application of advanced digital technologies in the preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage. During the visit, numerous outstanding achievements from the integration of science, art, and information technology were showcased. The exhibit, a miniature model of the "Majiayao Culture" historical site—a large prehistoric settlement selected as one of the "Top 10 Archaeological Discoveries of 2024 in China"—garnered significant attention. According to museum officials, to bring the 5,000-year-old historical landscape to life, the company developed a "dual-visual storytelling system." The first visual aspect utilizes 1:450 scale 3D printing technology to replicate the actual landscape of ancient excavation sites, including a three-tiered defensive moat system, house foundations, food storage pits, and pottery kilns. The second visual aspect employs AI simulation technology to recreate the entire village layout and the vibrant daily activities of prehistoric ancestors. Furthermore, the ASEAN media delegation explored various other new-generation digital technologies, such as the intelligent museum management system known as the "Digital Museum Brain," glasses-free 3D technology, 3D mapping, and direct interaction with AI humanoid robots capable of responding to commands, clicks, touch, and speech. This study visit represents a significant step in the exchange of information technology and knowledge between China and ASEAN countries, aiming to apply and develop the experiences gained from the digital creative industry's development in future information, museum, and cultural dissemination sectors.
