New Governor Appointed for Moung Ruessei District in Battambang

A ceremony was held on the 14th in Moung Ruessei District, Battambang Province, western Cambodia, for the inauguration of the new district governor. The ceremony was attended by Provincial Council Chairman Ouy Ly and Governor Sok Lu, with Ton Sophon appointed as the new district governor. Governor Sok Lu instructed the newly appointed governor to effectively strengthen crackdowns on drugs, gambling, juvenile delinquency, illegal fishing, and all other types of offenses. He also urged district and commune authorities to focus on liberating land along roads, widening public roads, maintaining environmental sanitation, curbing noise disturbances to residents' lives, and planting more trees in populated areas and around schools for the benefit of future generations. The governor stated that he expected civil servants within the district administration structure to maintain solidarity, respect the hierarchy, and support the leadership of the new district governor, ensuring that administrative and public services are provided energetically and effectively. He emphasized that security and public order in Battambang Province are in a good state, with administrative and security command units at all levels effectively cracking down on and closing illegal gambling locations within the province. On behalf of the Provincial Council and sub-national administration authorities, Governor Sok Lu declared full support for and implementation of the strategic plan for improving territorial administration, national security, public order, and social safety for the period 2024-2028. The governor firmly believes that the successful implementation of this strategic plan will enable citizens to live peaceful and better lives, facilitate access to administrative and security services with confidence, speed, modernity, and efficiency, and ensure inclusive and digitally-enabled development across all sectors of the province.
