Battambang Province Signs for Phase 2 of 'Peace Village' Development with South Korean Grant Aid

Battambang Province, Cambodia, held a signing ceremony on August 5, 2026, at the provincial hall for the second phase of the 'Peace Village' development project, funded by grant aid from the South Korean government. The ceremony was attended by Battambang Provincial Governor Sok Lu and South Korean Ambassador to Cambodia Kim Chang-yong, who signed the agreement. Minister of Rural Development Chhay Rithisen also presided over the event. Governor Sok Lu highlighted the significant role of the 'Peace Village' project in developing rural communities, focusing on good governance, rural infrastructure development, household income enhancement, and the improvement of rural health and sanitation. Achievements include the construction of health centers, study centers, the excavation and restoration of community ponds, and the building of clean water production stations and fish farms. He described these accomplishments as a result of strong cooperation between the provincial administration, the Ministry of Rural Development, local authorities, and funding from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), demonstrating efforts to reduce poverty and boost household economic activities. These achievements are not merely physical structures but symbolize cooperation, friendship, solidarity, and trust among all stakeholders. They are expected to contribute to improving living conditions, increasing local economic opportunities, strengthening communities, and promoting a safe, peaceful, and sustainable living environment. The Battambang Provincial Administration will continue to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Rural Development, development partners, and relevant authorities to effectively and sustainably maintain, manage, and utilize these achievements for the long-term benefit of the people. The 'Peace Village' project, also known as the 'Peace Village' initiative for rural community development, is a joint initiative funded by grant aid from the government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA. It is directly coordinated for implementation by the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD).
