Peace Meeting: NSPNC meets with MNTJP/ MNDAA in Nay Pyi Taw

National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) held a meeting with Myanmar National Truth and Justice Party (MNTJP/MNDAA) in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. Committee Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae said this is the first meeting with the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) since the President extended an invitation for peace talks. He recalled that mutual trust had been built after Laukkai Special Region-1 was designated as the Kokang Self-Administered Zone. However, conflicts emerged in 2009, and efforts were later made to resolve the issues through political means. He stressed the need to build mutual understanding while addressing the MNDAA’s long-term requirements. General Secretary (2) of the Politburo of the Myanmar National Truth and Justice Party (MNTJP), U Phong Win Naing, from the Liaison Division, expressed gratitude to the NSPNC for its efforts in the peace process. He welcomed the President’s peace invitation, which was extended without preconditions. He emphasized that peace is the ultimate goal of the entire people and is fundamental to the stability of the state, national development and the prosperity of the people. He stressed the need to address differences through dialogue and build mutual trust. He also outlined their position on establishing a self-administered zone where people of all nationalities can live peacefully, while upholding the principles of non-disintegration of the Union and equality among all ethnic nationalities. The meeting discussed fostering peace through dialogue, matters for self-administration, legality of MNDAA in political field, equality among national races, reopening of border gates, implementation of cross-border projects, combating online scam and drug trafficking, cooperation for state security and development works, strengthening mutual trust and participating in the election after founding as a political party.
