Thai Foreign Minister meets Myanmar's coup leader's Foreign Minister Tin Maung Swe who is in Thailand to meet ASEAN Foreign Ministers

Yangon, July 12 Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai met with Myanmar's coup leader's Foreign Minister Tin Maung Swe, who is in Thailand to meet ASEAN Foreign Ministers, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced yesterday. Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and the State Administration Council's Foreign Minister Tin Maung Swe met and discussed border security, river pollution, and bilateral economic cooperation, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, July 12. On July 11, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai received the State Administration Council's Foreign Minister Tin Maung Swe. Tin Maung Swe is in Thailand to attend an informal meeting between ASEAN Foreign Ministers and the Myanmar Foreign Minister. During the meeting, the long-standing close neighborly relations between Thailand and Myanmar were reaffirmed by both sides. Cooperation on border security, environmental issues, and particularly the problem of river pollution were discussed, according to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Furthermore, it was learned that both sides also discussed economic cooperation to facilitate cross-border trade and strengthen economic connectivity between the two countries. In addition, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement indicated that views were exchanged and discussed regarding engagement between the State Administration Council and ASEAN, progress on peace in Myanmar, and the national reconciliation process.
