Southern Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City are bracing for widespread heavy rainfall over several days following the Independence Day celebrations on September 2nd. Meteorological authorities have indicated that the region will be primarily influenced by a moderately to strongly active southwest monsoon, leading to continued rain showers and thunderstorms. On September 2nd, the weather across most of the southern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City is expected to feature less rain in the morning and early afternoon, with sunshine interspersed by clouds. This period is anticipated to be conducive to outdoor activities. However, light rain showers may occur in some coastal areas of the Mekong Delta in the morning and early afternoon. The intensity and coverage of rainfall are likely to decrease slightly on the day itself. Scattered showers are primarily expected in the afternoon and evening, with some areas experiencing moderate rain and thunderstorms. Eastern regions might see heavier downpours. The highest temperatures are projected to range from 30 to 33 degrees Celsius, with some areas potentially exceeding 33 degrees Celsius. Looking ahead to September 3rd and 4th, the weather in the southern region and Ho Chi Minh City will trend towards increased rainfall in both extent and volume. Eastern areas, in particular, could experience rain over a fairly wide area, with some locations receiving heavy downpours. In the Mekong Delta, rain may occur in the morning and become more frequent, with some parts experiencing heavy rain in the afternoon. During thunderstorms, precautions should be taken against tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts. Separately, on September 2nd, Typhoon No. 5 was heading towards Taiwan, China, before weakening and changing direction.
