Linking Interests in a Free and Open Indo-Pacific

The article centers on how Vietnam can engage with this regional order and maximize its national interests. It suggests that for Vietnam, aligning with the principles of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific is crucial for achieving its strategic goals of economic growth and enhanced international standing. Specifically, strengthening regional cooperation, promoting trade and investment liberalization, and jointly addressing common challenges are presented as pathways beneficial to Vietnam's interests. By fulfilling its role as a central nation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Vietnam can enhance its influence while contributing to the region's overall stability and prosperity. While Vietnam's economic growth under its one-party system has been remarkable, deepening international cooperation is key to further development. Particularly in its relationship with China, maintaining regional order is a vital element of Vietnam's foreign policy, requiring a balanced approach. This report poses the question of how Vietnam will strengthen its position and achieve sustainable development amidst the complex geopolitical dynamics of the Indo-Pacific region.
