To prevent further increases in egg prices in the market, relevant organizations will coordinate and cooperate with egg distributors and sellers. The Myanmar Livestock Entrepreneurs Association has announced that measures currently in place to enable the public to purchase eggs at affordable prices will also continue. Currently, in the retail market in Yangon, the price of eggs has risen to a minimum of 550 kyats per egg, and in some areas, it has reached up to around 700 kyats depending on the size of the egg, according to some Yangon residents. In response to this rise in egg prices, the executive committee of the Myanmar Livestock Entrepreneurs Association, the Myanmar Poultry and Duck Breeders and Sellers Association, and the Egg and Duck Egg Distributors and Sellers Group held a coordination meeting on July 17 to analyze the situation of egg production, distribution, and sales. Officials from the Livestock and Veterinary Department of Yangon Region also attended the meeting. At the meeting, the reasons for the increase in egg prices were analyzed as the rise in production costs due to the need for vaccines and feed raw materials, the mismatch between the production of laying hens and demand in previous years, and the decrease in egg production and supply due to disease outbreaks in recent months. To ensure stable production of goods, the association and relevant organizations will coordinate and resolve issues occurring throughout the supply chain, and will also report and submit to the relevant authorities. Furthermore, it was learned that a meeting of the Myanmar Poultry and Duck Breeders and Sellers Association and its member groups will be held soon to analyze and discuss the overall situation of the poultry farming sector.
