Vietnam’s eight representatives on Forbes’ real-time billionaires ranking have a combined net worth of $54.5 billion. Vuong leads the group with a fortune of $36.5 billion, making him the richest person in Southeast Asia. The 58-year-old Vingroup chairman ranks 60th globally and is $16.6 billion wealthier than Southeast Asia’s second-richest person, Indonesian coal magnate Low Tuck Kwong, whose net worth stood at $19.9 billion as of Aug. 30. Vuong, 58, added as much as $2.3 billion to his fortune on Aug. 27, making him one of the world’s five biggest wealth gainers that day alongside U.S. tech moguls Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, Michael Dell, and Mark Zuckerberg. His wife, Vingroup vice chairwoman Pham Thu Huong, 57, has recently moved into second place in Vietnam with a net worth of $4.1 billion, overtaking Vietjet chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, who is worth $4 billion.
