Vietnam at Forefront of Driving ASEAN Community Vision 2045: Ambassador

Vietnam distinguishes itself with rapid growth, a favourable geostrategic position and extensive global integration, allowing it to act as a bridge between mainland and maritime Southeast Asia. According to Dr Arisman, Vietnam's greatest strength lies in its ability to bridge diverse interests, promote meaningful cooperation and preserve ASEAN solidarity while adapting to emerging challenges. ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn has described Vietnam as an important and constructive member of ASEAN over the past three decades, highlighting its significant contributions to the political-security, economic and socio-cultural pillars. He expressed confidence that Vietnam will continue playing an active role in advancing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. Domestically, the need to overcome fragmented, localised decision-making that shackles development mindset has been emphasized. Furthermore, the fourth strategic shift outlined at the third meeting of the 14th Party Central Committee is about building national resilience, aiming to strengthen the country's ability to adapt and recover when disruptions occur, rather than eliminating every possible risk. In international relations, Vietnam is conducting visits with the Philippines aimed at deepening people-to-people bonds, particularly through legislative frameworks. Additionally, efforts are underway with Russia to advance bilateral defence cooperation agreements, seeking to further strengthen the long-standing friendship and deepen defence collaboration between the two countries. Vietnam has made significant contributions to ASEAN's development over the past three decades. Leaders such as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam continue to honour fallen heroes and contributors to the revolution, providing spiritual motivation for national construction and defence. These developments demonstrate Vietnam's commitment to leading regional integration within ASEAN and strengthening its domestic development alongside international cooperation.
