Cambodia: Carelessness with Electrical Outlet During Light Rain Leads to Young Man's Death

A tragic accident occurred in Battambang province, western Cambodia, around 7:30 AM on September 11th, where a 21-year-old man died from electric shock. The incident took place in Samaki village, Phnom Proek commune, during a period of light rain. The victim, identified as Lon Cheang, a resident of the same village, was electrocuted while attempting to unplug a power source for a chick incubator. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to a nearby health center, but was pronounced dead en route. According to his family, the accident happened as Lon was trying to remove the plug from the incubator's power supply. It is suspected that his hands may have been wet due to the ongoing light rain. Experts are warning that extreme caution is necessary when handling electrical equipment in damp environments. Following the incident, relevant authorities visited the scene to investigate the circumstances. Officials confirmed that the victim regularly used electricity for the chick incubator.
