Patong Chabad House Begins Demolishing Unauthorized Rooftop Additions

PHUKET, Thailand – Chabad House Patong has begun removing additions built on the rooftop of its building after Patong Municipality found that the alterations had been made without permission. The demolition work began on September 18, following an inspection by Patong Municipality and an order for the building owner to correct the unauthorized alterations. The municipality gave those responsible one month to complete the required work and bring the building into compliance with the order. The rooftop section identified during the inspection is now being dismantled, while authorities continue to monitor the work to determine whether all required corrections are completed within the specified timeframe. The inspection also found that a separate coffee shop building using space originally designated for parking remains in place. No demolition of that structure had taken place as of September 18. Authorities are expected to continue monitoring both the rooftop removal and other required corrections to ensure compliance with the municipal order.
